Bring skills into the room, not just the session.
This set of 9 printable posters explains well-known skills drawn from evidence-based approaches, written in simple, warm language that young people can actually connect with. Each poster has a "your turn" prompt at the bottom, so you can point to it, talk it through, and make it part of the conversation.
What's included
• TIPP
• DEAR MAN
• GIVE
• Wise mind
• STOP
• 5-4-3-2-1 grounding
• Opposite action
• Choice point
• The fishbowl (a way to picture the window of tolerance)
Posters are colour coded:
• Orange: in-the-moment skills, for when feelings get big
• Blue: everyday skills, for relationships and choices
Format
• 1 PDF, 9 pages
• A3 portrait, which also scales up cleanly to A2
• Prints well at Officeworks or on a home printer
• Tip: laminate them so you and your students can write on the "your turn" boxes with a whiteboard marker
Who it's for
School counsellors, psychologists, counsellors, wellbeing staff and teachers working with young people.
Please note
These posters are general education only. They are not therapy, a diagnosis, or a substitute for individual support, and not every skill will suit every person. The skills are drawn from dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), developed by Dr Marsha Linehan, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), including the choice point developed by Dr Joseph Ciarrochi, Dr Ann Bailey and Dr Russ Harris. The fishbowl draws on the window of tolerance, a concept developed by Dr Dan Siegel. All skills are described in my own words, and these posters are not affiliated with or endorsed by these authors.
Terms of use
This download is for use in your own counselling room, school or practice. Please don't share, resell or upload the files elsewhere. If a colleague would like a copy, they're welcome to grab their own.
